We hear people saying CSS3 all the time, and it's not exactly a thing. It sort of is, because everything that was part of the CSS2.1 spec got pushed to 3 at the same time, but they were also all independent of each other as soon as that happened. Because of that, we're left with many things currently sitting at level 3, others like selectors are moving onto level 4, and things like flexbox and grid sitting at level 1, with grid on it's way to level 2. And because everything is independent, it also means there will never be a CSS4, no matter what you might hear elsewhere.
