Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters continue their advance in the battle against al-Qaeda linked militants despite a campaign of airstrikes by Saudi warplanes.
Reports coming out of Yemen suggest Ansarullah and its allied army units have gained new territory in the northern province of Ma’rib. Some reports also show that governor of the province has fled. This as the death toll from 19 days of Saudi airstrikes continues to rise. The latest air raids targeted the city of Sa’ada and a hospital in the city of Ma’rib. At least a dozen people were reported dead as several airstrikes targeted a stadium and nearby residential areas in the city of Ibb. Over a dozen people were also killed in the cities of Taizz and parts of Amran province. More than one-thousand people have been killed since the Saudi airstrikes began on March 26. The Saudi military says it has deployed helicopter gunships near the border with Yemen.
